Vardenafil (generic Levitra) is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, allowing for a harder, longer-lasting erection.
Vardenafil is available as a single daily dose, taken orally. It should be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
The efficacy of Vardenafil is demonstrated in four of the six treatment phases: Phase I: The patient was sexually aroused, was sexually stimulated, and had a lasting erection for 6 hours. The patient was monitored for signs of improved erections. The patient was observed for signs of improvement in sexual function and sexual satisfaction. The most common side effects were headache, flushing, upset stomach, nasal congestion, dizziness, and visual disturbances. In conclusion, Vardenafil is an effective treatment option for erectile dysfunction in men.
Store Vardenafil in a dry place at room temperature (between 15-30°C) away from moisture, heat, and direct light.
The recommended starting dose of Vardenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction is 10 mg taken orally once a day. The dosage for the treatment of premature ejaculation is 2.5 mg taken orally (60 minutes) or as needed (36 hours).
The most commonly reported adverse events were headache, flushing, upset stomach, nasal congestion, dizziness, visual disturbances, dizziness, and priapism (prolonged and painful erections).
A study conducted in 2003 demonstrated that men who took Vardenafil had a reduced incidence of priapism (prolonged erections lasting longer than four hours).
Men taking the tablet had a significantly lower incidence of priapism (prolonged erections lasting longer than four hours) compared with those taking a placebo. Men taking Vardenafil who are taking medications to treat erectile dysfunction also reported fewer sexual adverse events compared with those taking the placebo.
In addition to these less common side effects, more serious adverse events are possible with vardenafil. These include:

Understanding Drug Interactions:
Keeping Track of Your Medications:
Changing Medications:
Specific Interactions:
Nitrates and "Poppers": Vardenafil can cause a severe drop in blood pressure when used with nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide) or recreational drugs like "poppers" containing amyl or butyl nitrite. This can lead to dizziness, fainting, and rarely heart attack or stroke.
Alpha Blockers: If you are taking an alpha blocker (e.g., doxazosin, tamsulosin) for conditions like enlarged prostate or high blood pressure, combining it with Vardenafil may cause excessively low blood pressure, leading to dizziness or fainting. Your doctor may initiate vardenafil at a lower dose to reduce this risk.
Other Medications: Certain drugs can affect how Vardenafil is metabolized in the body, potentially altering its effectiveness. Examples include azole antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), and HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., indinavir, ritonavir).
Avoid combination with Similar Medications:

"Vardenafil and Specific PDE5 Inhibition: A Comparative Study of Differences in Pharmacokinetic Parameters of Sildenafil vs.The2023Drug Safety and Efficacy StudyPhase 1, US, (NCT01677513) was conducted in France from December 2003 to May 2004. It was the first study conducted to investigate the safety and efficacy of levitra at 20 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg twice daily as monotherapy for erectile dysfunction.
In this Phase 1/2 open-label, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover study of 20 mg, 20 mg twice daily for four to eight weeks in 40 men with erectile dysfunction, the primary efficacy endpoint was the percentage of patients who reported a satisfactory response to the drug, compared with placebo. The secondary efficacy endpoint was the percentage of patients who showed improvement on the response question in the presence of sexual arousal. In all, 120 patients were enrolled. Twenty-four patients were randomized: 12 patients were treated with 10 mg levitra and the other 14 patients were treated with 20 mg levitra. The mean age of the patients was 64.5 years. The majority of patients were older than 60 years, had a prior diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, and had normal erectile function at baseline. The most common underlying medical problem was hypertension, most commonly diabetes and smoking. Levitra was well tolerated in all patients, with no serious adverse events. The safety profile of levitra was assessed in patients who had a baseline clinical response to the study drug (20 mg vs. 10 mg) and a response to treatment with either 20 mg or 10 mg levitra.

PharmacodynamicsThe pharmacodynamics (PD) study was a 3-period, double-blind, parallel group study in 40 men with erectile dysfunction. At the end of the study, the mean plasma concentrations of the active drug, the active metabolite, and the active site of the drug, vardenafil, were significantly lower with 10 mg levitra (mean: 5.
Levitra usage has been shown to cause some mild side effects. Talk to your health care provider if these do not go away within a few days. If you begin to experience more serious effects, seek medical attention immediately.

More serious side effects include:
If you experience any of these side effects, seek medical attention immediately. These are symptoms of a serious adverse reaction to this medication and immediately require treatment.
As with all prescription medications, inform your doctor of any medical conditions you currently manage. Tell them about any and all medications, prescription drugs, and supplements you are taking before starting treatment with Levitra. Levitra can interact with bodily substances, causing potentially serious adverse reactions.
Do not take Levitra if you take nitrate medications such as isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and nitroglycerin. It’s important to inform your doctor if you are taking any form of high blood pressure medication, alpha-blocker medication, prescription antifungals (like fluconazole), or other medications for erectile dysfunction. You should include information about herbal products, especially St. John’s wort.
Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Levitra.
Talk to your health care provider about safe drinking practices during treatment with Levitra. Levitra can interact with alcohol and cause potentially serious adverse reactions like those above.
